Deuteronomy 7:9 Day 4

Do you feel guilty? Do you feel unclean in the presence of God? Perhaps you feel so terrible about something you have done that you can’t imagine God wanting to have anything to do with you. If so, I have some good news for you. And guess what? That’s right, the good news is found in our memory verse.

Deuteronomy 7:9 Know therefore that the LORD your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations,

I hope that by now you are beginning to see how this verse works. It doesn’t mention temptation, but we saw how it provides hope to the tempted. It also doesn’t mention guilt and forgiveness, but as we will see, it speaks to this issue as well. It does this by speaking about the faithfulness of God. Can you remember our definition?

God’s faithfulness is His commitment to always fulfil His covenant promises.

Hebrews 8:10-12 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws into their minds, and write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And they shall not teach, each one his neighbor and each one his brother, saying, 'Know the Lord,' for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest. For I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more. "

It is the last one, right? God promises forgiveness. That means that since God is faithful, He is committed to forgiving you. All that stands between you and God’s forgiveness is your confession. Why don’t you spend some time now confessing your sin to God and receiving His forgiveness.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Can you complete the verse from memory?

Deuteronomy 7:9 ____ therefore that the ____ ____ ___ is ___, the ________ God ___ _____ ________ and _________ ____ with _____ who ____ ___ and ____ his ____________, to a ________ generations,
